You probably have some questions about A Restless Life. Let me answer them.
Who are you?
I’m Drew, a Catholic husband and father living in Kentucky. I work in construction management, spend my weekends with my wife and two kids, and wrestle daily with how to live intentionally in a world designed for distraction.
I’m not a theologian, minimalist guru, or lifestyle expert. I’m just a guy trying to figure out how to be faithful in a consumerist culture—and writing about it as I go.
What is this site about?
A Restless Life is for Catholic men who feel the tension between their faith and the modern world. It’s about:
• Soul: Why we do what we do (Catholic spirituality and intentionality)
• Mind: How we grow (books, skills, community)
• Body: What we interact with (craftsmanship, stewardship)
Think of it as the intersection of Catholic faith, intentional living, and practical wisdom.
If you’ve ever felt stereotyped by your faith, pressured to consume endlessly, or restless with the status quo—you’re in the right place.
Why did you start this?
Two years ago, an electrician on a job site saw my Ash Wednesday ashes and made a crack about Catholics. The next day, he apologized and said, “You aren’t like that.”
It stuck with me. Not because I was proud—but because I realized how often I was “like that.” How often my life contradicted what I claimed to believe.
I started this blog to stay accountable. To think clearly. To live better. And to help other men who are on the same journey.
You can read the full story here.
What makes this different from other Catholic blogs?
Three things:
1. Integration, not compartmentalization
Most sites are either “Catholic spirituality” OR “men’s lifestyle”—never both. I’m trying to integrate them. Your boots and your prayer life aren’t separate. Craftsmanship and stewardship aren’t separate. How you spend money and how you follow Christ aren’t separate.
2. No affiliate links, ever
I will never use affiliate links or monetize through product recommendations. This isn’t a side hustle disguised as ministry. If I recommend something, it’s because I genuinely think it will help you—not because I get a commission.
3. Honest struggle, not polished perfection
I’m not the guy who has it all figured out. I’m the guy still figuring it out. These posts are my thinking process in real time. Some weeks I hit it. Some weeks I miss. But I show up consistently, and I never fake it.
What can I expect?
Every Friday: A Sunday Reflection on the upcoming Mass readings. This is how I prepare myself to be present in the pew instead of distracted by work, kids, and my fantasy football lineup.
Every Tuesday: A longer post on Soul, Mind, or Body. Sometimes it’s practical—reviewing boots that last, books worth reading, tools worth owning. Sometimes it’s philosophical—wrestling with consumerism, stewardship, and what it means to live intentionally as a Catholic man.
All of it is rooted in the belief that craftsmanship frees up time for what matters. Buy it once. Repair it. Use it well. Spend your resources on things that serve your mission, not things that distract from it.
Where should I start?
1. Read the Welcome Page to understand the full framework
2. Subscribe to the weekly email (no spam, just new posts)
3. Browse the archive—find a topic that resonates and dive in
Or just start with this week’s Sunday Reflection. Meet me where you are.
Can I reach you?
Of course – you can email me at drew@arestlesslife.com
I read every message (though I can’t always respond immediately). If something I wrote helped you, tell me. If I got something wrong, tell me that too. This is a conversation, not a broadcast.
What’s next?
More posts. More consistency. Eventually, a community where we can discuss this stuff together. Maybe a book someday. But mostly: showing up every week to wrestle with these questions alongside you.
Thanks for being here.
